Our Environmental Policy

All work shall occur in accordance and comply with the environmental act, its regulations and other applicable acts.
This implies particular environmental consideration is taken within the areas of;

  • Goods and passenger transport
  • Energy consumption
  • Choice of products when purchasing
  • Chemical and waste handling

New areas, which have negative environmental effects continuously arise, for instance not yet investigated effects of different pharmaceuticals, mainly antibiotics, cytotoxins or hormone like substances.

Information and training of personnel is another important feature in the work towards minimizing negative environmental effects that this type of organization involves. All members of staff are responsible for their own contributions to the workplace in order for the organisations environmental goals to be met.

We are to be predecessors in environmental work which will be pursued systematically and structured.

Art Clinic’s environmental work

Goods and passenger transport
According to the organisations travel policy all business trips, when possible, are to be done my railway.

Energy consumption
The goal is to, as much as possible, minimise the use of electricity, heating and cooling in the building.

Dirty Laundry
The contracts with Berendsen, uses in total, less energy consumption compared with using our own laundry facilities. A synergy is reached by purchasing the laundries services together with other buyers.

Product choice when purchasing
For equivalent products and substances, those that produce the smallest negative effect on the environment are prioritised.

Waste handling

Medical pathological waste
Special agreements exist with Svensk Miljöhjälpen (Swedish Environmental Help)/Renova, who collect this kind of waste separately for destruction.

Waste from surgery/treatments etc
All waste which is heavily covered in blood/contaminated is packed and marked as risk waste. Materials which are less covered in blood are discarded as normal waste. The waste is to be transported the entire route without the risk of leakage. The waste is taken care of by Svenska Miljöhjälpen.

Medication (left over and outdated)
Are on a continual basis (once every quarter) taken to Apoteket (pharmacy) for destruction.

Used cannulas/needles and other sharp objects are put into designated holders marked “risk waste – prickable, cutable”. The container is picked up by Svenska Miljöhjälpen.

Paper recycling
All waste paper is recycled.

Leftover food and other waste
Is taken care of by ISS in conjunction with the daily cleaning. The prerequisite for dividing it into two fractions (biological and normal waste) is going to be examined.

Presentation and evaluation of the organisations environmental effort is carried out annually, as part of the annual report.
